Getting Started with the LMS
Getting started with the LMS doesn’t have to be complicated. As a new student, you might wonder how to navigate courses, submit assignments, or use the digital tools available; and that can feel daunting at first.
With Outspan Global University’s LMS, everything is designed to be simple and accessible.


To access a course:
- Click My Courses on your Dashboard.
- Select the course or unit you wish to study.
- Explore the available learning materials, activities, and announcements.
Within each course, you may find:
- Lecture notes and presentations
- Reading materials
- Videos and multimedia resources
- Assignments and quizzes
- Discussion forums
- Announcements from your lecturer
Tip: Can't find your course? You can self-enroll by navigating to Courses & Units from the Dashboard menu. Select Current Trimester and Level of Study, Browse your course or unit, then click Enroll Me to gain access.
You can contact the e-Learning Support Team for assistance.
Discussion forums provide an opportunity to interact with your lecturers and fellow students, ask questions, and share ideas related to your course.
To participate:
- Open the course forum.
- Read the existing discussion posts.
- Click Reply to contribute to an existing discussion, or Add a New Discussion Topic if permitted.
- Enter your message and click Post to Forum.
When participating in discussions:
- Be respectful and professional.
- Stay on topic.
- Use clear and constructive language.
- Support your ideas with relevant examples where appropriate.
Good Practice: Visit the discussion forums regularly, as lecturers often use them to share important announcements and answer common questions.
Online quizzes are used to assess your understanding of course content and may contribute to your continuous assessment or final grade.
Before starting a quiz:
- Read all the instructions carefully.
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
- Set aside enough uninterrupted time to complete the quiz.
- Avoid refreshing or closing your browser during the attempt.
To take a quiz:
- Open your course.
- Select the quiz activity.
- Review the quiz instructions.
- Click Attempt Quiz Now.
- Answer each question carefully.
- Click Finish Attempt, then Submit All and Finish to complete your submission.
Important: Some quizzes have time limits and only allow one attempt. Always check the quiz settings before you begin.
Assignments allow you to submit coursework Digitally for marking and feedback through the LMS.
To submit an assignment:
- Open the course.
- Select the assignment activity.
- Read the instructions carefully.
- Click Add Submission.
- Upload your assignment file or enter your response if required.
- Click Save Changes.
- If prompted, click Submit Assignment to finalize your submission.
After submitting, verify that your submission status displays Submitted for Grading.
Tip: Submit your assignments well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
Your LMS profile contains your personal information and account settings. Keeping your profile up to date helps lecturers identify you and ensures you receive important course notifications.
To update your profile:
- Click your profile picture or name in the top-right corner of the LMS.
- Select Profile.
- Click Edit Profile.
- Update your personal information, such as your profile picture, email address, or other editable details.
- Click Update Profile to save your changes.
Tip: Use a clear profile photo and ensure your email address is current so you don't miss important course announcements and notifications.

Getting Started
Follow these simple steps to install and use the Moodle Mobile App:
- Download the Moodle app from the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad).
- Open the app after installation.
- Enter your university's LMS site address.
- Log in using your student username and password.
- Once logged in, your enrolled courses will be available on your mobile device.
What You Can Do with the Mobile App
Using the Moodle Mobile App, you can:
- Access your enrolled courses.
- Download learning materials for offline viewing.
- Submit assignments.
- Attempt quizzes (where supported).
- Participate in discussion forums.
- Receive announcements and instant notifications.

Tip: Enable notifications on your mobile device to receive timely reminders about assignments, quizzes, announcements, and other important course updates.
